my recent bakes..

after my last assignment, was so tempted to bake.. well, i think i haven been baking for months!! gosh!! following my last blog, im exaggerating! i haven been baking for weeks not months.. hee.. just that it has really become my fave past time.. hmm.. maybe not considered as past time, but i squeeze time to bake even if it is sacrificing my sleep..well, those who know me will know i can sleep anywhere anyplace anytime.. gosh!

eversince mummy kendy shared her petite experience, me too have become influenced.. have been making petite stuff and the best part is the baking time is reduced by half.. cuppies usually takes 15mins to bake.. with the petite trays, it is reduced to less than 10 mins! how cool! besides, people wont have to share.. they can just "pop" the whole thing in their mouths!

my egg tarts!

apart from the yummy tarts, the rest i made the whole of sat afternoon.. the egg tarts were baked on sunday night.. as monday was a japan holiday, i baked the egg tarts from 10pm to 330am! gosh! maddness right?? haha.. because of their size, i had to use little dough to press the crust into the molds and each time i had to do 24! can u imagine?? hah.. but i had a great time doing that.. i slept well that night.. from the aching shoulders.. haha..

the next morning was going to visit my dear sista, so decide to make some for her family too! well, though it doesnt look as nice because it was really tiring for me.. but sista loves it!

well, hopefully i get to have time to bake soon..i miss my baking frenzy..

yummy mini donuts!

mummy kendy went to buy donut molds to bake these delicious donuts! she brought it on labour day when the rest were enjoying sg public holiday, we had to work..

ms was having this charity event, so she sold these donuts at S$1.. i bought one to support and sample.. hee.. it looks so cute loh.. so colourful.. so tempting.. she said once i see her donuts i would be tempted to buy the mold too!! indeed, was tempted but the mold can only be used to bake donuts.. well, haven been baking for awhile and haven had time to go phoon huat so... still resisted the temptation.. haha.. well, you may be thinking, im really so "save" meh. how much can the mold costs? well, these molds aren't cheap either because they had to be non-stick with a hole in the middle.. thus have to seriously consider if im making this long-term to get it.. well, mummy kendy did say she can lend me.. but she lives in hougang and will be leaving ms this wed.. how to borrow?? haha

verdict: taste is as good as the presentation! thumbs up!

nah.. im not a fan of 吳克群.. kendy mummy introduced the song to me yesterday at work.. when i 1st saw it, i commented that he is not good looking.. no offense to his fans ok?

then i showed dear dear the youtube yesterday night.. as i was watching a 2nd time, the tune kept ringing in my mind.. i watched 3 times that night! it is a very touching video.. really touched me..

sunday night..

since my passion for baking has started the past few months, what i do was search for recipes online..

it has been sometime that i have been visiting and re-visiting to see what the baker cum blogger has to share.. at times, even when there is no recipes posted on the item.. its just a lovely sight to admire what she has to share for her bakes.. i always pondered who eats them.. how fortunate to have a baker in the family to eat those yummilious stuff!

i just reading all the posts of one food blogger.. she is working with 2 sons and a supportive hubby who brings her bakes to office.. and her sons to school for recess.. i think she sells her bakes during festive periods, sells cuppies, agar agar and birthday cakes.. she not only can bake alot of yummilious stuff.. she can cook very well too! was just talking to dear dear on the phone..

well, i can almost picture myself like her.. working at the same time carrying on the passion of baking and cooking.. well, do not really cook alot now.. but slowly.. with supportive hubby and children to appreciate her cooks and bakes! i read on one post that her hubby went overseas to work, bought her a coach bag.. co-incidentally, recently i have an eye for this brand.., some pretty moulds for her to work on and a nice cuppies stand for her..

my point of supportive is not only enjoying the food that she makes.. but getting her gifts to add to her baking collection.. how sweet right?? hee..

my baking frenzy.. hee..

haven been baking for the longest time.. haven been updating my blog.. last night dear dear visited my blog and reminded me that my last update was in March 12! haha

since i had some spare time on a friday evening, i was pondering over recipes to bake today.. very determined to at least make 2 items today.. hee.. was busy browsing recipes in the afternoon.. wanted to make full use to bake yummilicious stuff.. hee..

frankly, i was still undecided after i left the office but when i came home, decide to settle for this sweet thing.. it is easy to mix but cookies, requires time to roll them and shape them into little balls for baking.. therefore, it took me quite a while to bake 4 batches of the cookies..

next, decided to do cream cheese pound cake as the recipe seems easy.. and for cakes, simply mx the batter and put it into the baking tin for baking.. that's it! after one hour! ta-da! its done! haha..

while i was mixing the batter, dad and mum came back from courts with a surprise for me! hee.. thanks mum and dad!! tell you the surprise later..

my dad's always very interested to see me bake.. he always rendered help.. this time, he mix the batter for me while i gave instructions.. haha.. fun! training for instructor haha.. dad told me to be more ambitious.. to sell my bakes instead of making an making.. instead of spending money on baking, he feels that i should concentrate on improving recipes that can be improved to be more yummilicious to sell.. afterall, im a marketer, it should not be difficult to find potential buyers.. haha.. or i can get my marketing professionals, aka my good friends in the marketing line to market for me too.. well, ah yi did tell me to dream BIG dreams.. like ricky, he opened his own shop and is very happy though it is tough.. maybe will keep it in mind once my bakes are better and i have more confidence!

an electric mixer! though it is not kitchen aid, kenwood chef but i am really happy that they got it for me! i love it! i will make full use of it and will bring it with me when i move out next time.. well, i did borrow an electric mixer from my grandma which she has used for many many years.. at the initial stage, i dreamt that i spoilt it.. i felt so guilty.. the guilt and the laziness in me for taking out the electric mixer to bake.. my dad commented.. always see you, using your hand strength to beat the batter like so "xin ku" so they got it for me! i was so so touched! really! it is the thoughts that matters not how good the gift is..

the electric mixer comes with 3 different types of whisks! it even comes with a spatula.. though the whisk is stationary unlike kitchen aid that moves, the mixing bowl will move when i turn it on.. nice!

will try another bake soon with my new electric mixer before my assignment starts!

random updates.. hee

been busy busy with assignment, casenotes etc.. haven been baking for awhile.. but i made some onde onde many weeks ago,

presenting my 1st batch of too "pandan-ery" onde onde.. i think i used a quarter bottle! opps! it turned out to be very green.. used tapioca instead of sweet potato and didnt get a nice dough.. therefore all the gula melaka flowed out.. my colleagues had to depend on chance to choose the onde with gula melaka or no fillings inside.. haha..

after the 1st attempt, a few weeks later, bought sweet potato to make onde onde.. well, this time round, i added 2 teaspoon of pandan paste to get some flavour into the onde.. hee.. see, they didnt turned out too green right?

went library with dear dear on wednesday.. was so tempted to borrow this book.. but was too BIG to carry home.. so didnt borrow! :( but they have ALL recipes.. choco chips cookies, double choco chips cookies.. from cookies, biscuits, tarts, cakes, cheese cakes, ice cream recipes! wow!

yesterday we went to bedok north, went to blk 85 to had yummy food! i felt so guilty after that.. my plans was to eat only bak chor mee.. but when i got there, it's like a singapore food paradise! how to resist?? with my photoshoot in 2 months time.. i really have to control..

we also ordered 10 sticks of satay which we cant finish.. gosh! we were so full at close to 930pm!

my weekday bakes..

after the weekend baking frenzy.. i guess the addiction continues.. been so excited to bake all the recipes i found.. surprisingly i was not tired! hee.. after work, went to fairprice to get the ingredients.. oh yes, i may have flour, butter and sugar always ready at home.. but this time round, i needed chocolate spread.. so went to buy.. cant wait to hands on the recipe..

yesterday everyone's home except siang lah.. so b sis tried to help me cream the butter and sugar that explains why I have time to take the before photos.. hee.. but i guess she was either too slow or simply too gentle with the batter that my dad offered assistance also.. all i had to do was to sit down and snap! hee..

after adding the the flour, the eggs and chocolate spread.. in the oven it went.. the recipe calls for the batter to be swirled with the chocolate spread.. trust me, after i hands on, it is not easy for the chocolate spread to follow the toothpick but the petite thing moved together which is not easy to be swirled..

my weekend bakes!

it has been a long long time after cny that i last baked, there are so many recipes that i always wanted to try but haven got time..

it has been a tiring week for me after cny making so many plans for everything.. i had no time and my body is too lazy to bake after work.. so i made full use of this weekend to bake those that i always wanted to make.. hee.. very satisfied with the bakes! i wanted to make choux pastry but cant find my recipes for it.. i have taken out all my choux pastries recipes and left it somewhere as my priority for baking but cant find it.. so cant bake.. then i realised, it is in my cupboard all along and i just couldnt find it..

bake 1: mousse cakes.. finally kendy went to the biggest branch phoon huat, geylang to help me buy the small cake rings to make mousse cakes.. but i simply cant handle gelatine.. this is my 2nd time failing it.. the 1st was, i promised to make cheesecake for christmas party but the cheese just doesnt set.. sighz.. this time round, the whipped cream and the cheese just doesnt set.. i removed the cake ring to see it flowing out.. how disappointing.. i threw them all away.. no photos..

bake 2: chocolate fondant.. in one recipes, i can only make 7 fondants.. dear dear ate 1, b sis ate 2! they love it! they are surprised with the ozzing chocolate in the middle! i made another batch today with the same results.. dear dear had another one today.. great!

bake 3: marble cake.. next i decide to make marble cake.. because of the swirls inside, i always think is a beautiful sight.. cant wait to lay my hands on it.. but i mix too much batter with the chocolate paste because i have more chocolate batter than vanilla batter, thus my marble cake is not well presented.. but taste wise, great! this is my 1st attempt, will improve on the next.. but wonder when i got the chance to do it again.. because my family doesnt really eat cakes and dear dear prefers banana cake to marble cake..

bake 4: peach muffins.. found a recipes on the Internet on peach muffins.. i always wondered how it taste like.. and recently after having 2 baking tins for baking muffins, i love to bake muffins now! hee.. after reading baking books, i dare not overmix the muffins now.. after 5 times of stiring it, i let it rest.. i hate to see the lumpy muffin mix actually..

bake 5: wanted to make pizza as breakfast today.. but after the yeast rise and all which is more than 2 hours later.. we ate it about 4pm.. hee.. after zh brought her mum's homemade pizza, i have always wanted to make my own! see my onions and tomatoes, i fried my own tomato paste for the pizza.. hee.. results: well, zh mum did it better.. her consoles was that her mum has made it for many years where im just a beginner.. haha.. but it is definitely cost savings to buy sunshine brand pizza from fairprice than making it.. well, for the fun of it.. hee..

met up with the girls 2 weekends ago for catch up.. princess jas went to japan for cny.. saw her blog.. she had so much fun! also very expensive..

congrats ali!

besides sista's wedding, saturday was also ali's rom! they had a party at downtown east coasta sands! but we came from sista's wedding and it was quite late about 11pm so most of them left.. no other pictures except this..

ali and his wife were very tired from the bbq.. so many people came at about 7-10pm.. we saw the photos in his camera.. by the time we wanted to take, his camera lo batt liao..

their wedding in oct this year on dear dear's birthday.. looking forward to it..

sista's wedding..

saturday was sista's wedding.. this is a very special wedding for me as sista's been my great friend for the past 2 years.. i guess we were much closer after leaving jj..and my very first wedding dinner attended with dear dear.. it makes me so overwhelm with emotions seeing sista getting married..

i still can remember the day we 1st met, in my opinion, she is quite mature and she has a very great dress sense, she dresses very well to work every morning.. and she greets everyone with a very cheery good morning everyday she comes in to work.. she always appear with her usual bright smiles.. i remember the day we sat in the conference room and the team did an introduction, she purposely said, "im xxx.. same age as steph's" till today, i can remember she mentioned me in her intro.. anyway, she knows she left a deep impression in me.. hah..

it's really great to see your love ones getting married.. i missed a good friend one last year and another 2 whom i have known for many years.. but because of family pressure.. we had no choice.. dear dear and i made a pact.. no matter what comes our way, we are going to be in bo chap mood this year and attend every weddings we can.. what chinese traditions? we have His blessings..

so happy for her to see her so blessed, married into a good family.. congrats Mrs Ang, must be very xin fu now wor.. just sms her.. she is still at the hotel.. 2 nights stay..

was supposed to be there early to witness her solemnisation but was late.. ;p hee.. when i saw her, i asked.. haven solemn? she said, over liao.. haha.. so we went up to the bridal suite to take some pictures..

so though we are really sistas because we address the bride as sista but none of us is her jie mei.. hee..

my proposal ring..

on saturday, dear dear got me his proposal ring for me.. hee.. though it is not the biggest size.. but dear i love it! because my finger's not too big and i prefer very simple, very sleek white gold to hold the diamond and the size is just nice!

thank you dear dear for remembering it! i simply love my brillant rose!
